Football Cheerleading 2012

Tryout Day 1: TBA

Tryout Day 2: TBA

Tryout Attire: all potential cheerleaders must wear orange and black- Soffe shorts (or equivalent) and a t-shirt, hair should be pulled up in a high pony tail with a bow. Absolutely no jewelry!

All Tryouts and practices are closed

TRYOUT DAY 1- Stunt practice, learn chants, fight song and dance

TRYOUT DAY 2- tumbling, stunt and material evals

BASIC REQUIREMENTS for both squads

  • memory retention of all material
  • progress from day one to day two
  • toe touch, side hurdler, pike and double toe touch using MHS prep with clean landing
  • positive attitude
  • performance presence, facials, enthusiasm, spirit and vocal projection
  • tumbling skills (cartwheels, round-off, back handspring): those who preform running progressions such as round-off back handspring or back tucks will be scored the highest
  • clean motion technique

VARSITY STUNT REQUIREMENTS


FLYERS: Must have a solid liberty and one of the following: heel stretch, scorpion or bow and arrow as well as an upper level load such as post up lib, two to one lib or twist up lib. All flyers must be able/willing to full down from a one leg stunt.


BASES: Must be able to main a one leg stunt using proper technique (stunt must not travel),  upper level load such as post up lib, two to one lib or twist up lib. Must know how to throw an exploding bottle rocket, basket toss and full down. Must be willing to back front or side a stunt.


SPOTTERS: Must be able to demonstrate proper technique for backing and fronting, front or back a liberty, bottle rocket, basket toss and full down, as well as an upper level load such as a post up lib, two to one lib or twist up lib. All spotters must be willing to base a half.

JV STUNT REQUIREMENTS


FLYERSMust be able to hold own weight in a hang drill. Must be able to demo a prep and prep push extension with proper technique. Flyers who can execute a liberty and other one leg stunts will be scored the highest.


BASES: Must be able to build a prep and extension. Bases who can main a one leg stunt using proper technique will be scored the highest. Must be willing to back front or side a stunt.


SPOTTERS: Must be able to demonstrate proper technique for backing and fronting, front or back a liberty, bottle rocket, basket toss and full down. All spotters must be willing to base a half.
